Due to technical difficulties…
The WordPress world released a new version a few days ago. I upgraded my blogs and in the process of doing that something went horribly awry. Well you say, of course you backed up your files before you invoked the”Backup” button. Of course I did not heed the warnings in the installation panel. The odds were really in my favor though. I only had one blog that did not update correctly and you are reading it.
The difficulty with my new installation was that the visual editor was messed up. For those of you who are not familiar with what a visual editor is, it is the area within the WordPress program where I write the posts. The visual editor provides editing features such as bold, italic, blockquote, etc. In my installation of WordPress the visual editor buttons were missing in Internet Explorer. In FireFox browser the area where they were supposed to appear was completely gone. Oh, well, this is one of those situations where you had to be there to understand the situation.
WordPress 2.1 was fraught with bugs and I read the suggestions on the message boards for hours and found that many other users were having the same problem with their installations. Even though they were having similar troubles the fixes suggested by one user did not necessarily assist everyone. And of course that included me as well.
